  • They are mostly used for the treatment and prevention of facial wrinkles. These non-invasive injections relax the underlying muscles beneath the skin and smooth wrinkles.

  • Both Dysport and Botox are extremely safe for qualifying candidates and when used by board-certified practitioners.

  • The procedure is very quick and is done at our clinic. There is minimal to no downtime. You can return to work immediately.

  • Results are not permanent. Follow-up injections are necessary to maintain your aesthetic goal.

Differences

Treatment Areas

  • Dysport is used to treat the appearance of lines between your eyebrows or glabella areas. However, Dysport is only meant for people with either moderate or severe cases and isn't recommended for mild glabella lines. During your initial consultation, the practitioner will tell explain the difference between your mild and moderate wrinkles.

Botox is approved to treat forehead lines, crow's feet, and glabellar lines.

  • Dysport spreads quickly to a wider area when injected, so if you want to address large areas such as the forehead, Dysport may work better for you.

Botox stays near its injection area so it might be preferred for smaller areas such as around the eyes or underneath your eyes.

Number of Units Per Treatments

The biggest difference you might notice between Botox and Dysport is the amount required for treatments.

Dysport is more diluted, so fewer injections are needed to achieve your desired results.

For Botox, the number of units required will depend largely on the targeted areas and desired results. On average:

  • Glabellar lines: 20 total units, 5 injection sites

  • Glabellar and forehead lines: 40 total units, 10 injection sites

  • Crow’s feet: 24 total units, 6 injection sites

  • All three types of wrinkles combined: 64 unit

Expected Results

  • Dysport might have faster results. Typically Dysport's results are visible within 1-2 days post-injection. Botox patients start seeing results within 3-5 days. If you want to see a noticeable reduction of fine lines and wrinkles quickly, Dysport might be a better option for you.

  • Botox results might last longer. Dysport lasts between 3 and 4 months before you a maintenance treatment is required. Botox injections can sometimes last up to 6 months.

Costs

The cost of Dysport and Botox depends on the treatment areas and on the expertise of the injector. Botox in general is charged at a higher rate than Dysport.
